To Keto or Not To Keto

If you are one of the many individuals out there in touch with social media, news, nutrition blogs, diet blogs, etc you may have heard of the Ketogenic Diet. So, what's all the hype?!?

Here is some information regarding this diet and we hope you read this and can gather at least one bit of information to help you better understand this diet.

1. It was started almost 100 years ago and used to help treat kids with seizures vs use medicines.

2. The diet includes very little carbohydrates and high fat. Most of the macros come from fat and then protein and then carbohydrates.

3.Once you reach ketosis, most cells will use ketone bodies (fat molecules) to generate energy until we start eating carbohydrates again.

4. Ketones are made from fat. Your liver turns this fat into ketones, a type of acid, and sends them into your bloodstream and give your body energy.

5.One of the main criticisms of this diet is that many people tend to eat too much protein and poor-quality fats from processed foods, with very few fruits and vegetables.

We hope this gives you some more information about the process behind the diet and help you make a sound decision on trying this vs an alternate way of eating.

In health,
